Solar wind (L1)
Speed474.9 km/s
Density6.9 p/cm³
What this shows
Solar wind plasma speed, density and temperature measured at L1, the same point and spacecraft as the interplanetary magnetic field. A fast, dense wind is the one most able to drive energy into the magnetosphere; temperature is shown on a log scale because it spans several orders of magnitude.
